During a visit to my father’s alma mater, MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I had the incredible opportunity to delve into the world of quantum engineering. My father and I were there to meet some of his old friends, including the highly esteemed William Oliver. Professor Oliver the Director of the Center for Quantum Engineering (https://equs.mit.edu/william-d-oliver/) but also the Associate Director of the Research Laboratory of Electronics (https://news.mit.edu/2021/william-oliver-quantum-computing-0119). His role as a Principal Investigator in the Engineering Quantum Systems Group makes him a pivotal figure in the realm of quantum computing

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly our time spent in Professor Oliver’s office. A graduate student graciously demonstrated how they build quantum computers from scratch, a process that was nothing short of mind-blowing. Witnessing the intricate and meticulous work that goes into creating these advanced machines was a major source of inspiration for me.

As we discussed the implications of quantum computing, my father had a lightbulb moment. He proposed the idea of developing a platform that offers Public or Private File Encryption through Key Encapsulation Mechanism (KEM) and Authenticate Digital Message using Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA). These encryption algorithms, approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), are designed to secure data against the formidable threats posed by quantum computers.

NIST’s rigorous process to select post-quantum cryptographic algorithms culminated in an international competition that recently approved four quantum-proof algorithms. This initiative aims to replace current cryptographic standards vulnerable to quantum attacks.
